Special Education Programs and Services

The Delaware Township School District provides a full continuum of programs and services to meet the needs of students with disabilities.

Programs

Students with disabilities are placed in the least restrictive environment (LRE) based on teacher reports, standardized test scores, etc.  The following is a list of programs available:

• General education placement including:

- curricular/instructional modifications

- assistive technology

- teacher aides

- related services

- in class resource program

• Resource program outside the general education classroom
• Special class in local school or another school

- preschool disabled

- language/learning disabled

• Special program out of district

- Educational Services Commission

- Approved private school

Services

Related services are provided to a student with a disability when required for the student to benefit from the educational program as determined by a student’s IEP.  Related services include:

• Speech/language
• Counseling
• Occupational therapy
• Physical therapy
• Transportation
• Nursing services
