Funding/Finance

(Chairs: Pres & Treas)

  • Reviews recommendations from other Committees relative to overall budget
  • Develops procedure for reviewing, evaluating and recommending efficacy of current and proposed fundraisers
  • Researches alternative sources of funding (e.g., grants; raffles), recommends same to general membership and, if approved, coordinates implementation (i.e., completing grant applications; drafting funding request letters; obtaining raffle licenses)
  • Develops “fact sheets” for each fundraiser (see Sally Foster example)

Middle School Programming

(Chairs VP; others)

  • MS-specific assemblies; curriculum support  (Appt. MS Assemblies Rep to meet with Principal and DTCEF rep to plan and coordinate MS assemblies; work with ES Assemblies Rep to recommend cross-grade assemblies)
  • ES Parent Programming
  • Dances and related MS activities
  • Babysitter certification – plan course offerings; develop procedure for student eligibility and selection
  • Staffing of child care services – develop procedure for nomination, evaluation and selection of sitters; develop and communicate expectations of sitters to sitters; adult volunteers to help coordinate staffing; develop and coordinate feedback from parents/children in program as to performance of sitters.
  • Other MS-specific program recommendations (e.g., dedication of Makara Courtyard in MS hallway)
  • Coordinates with Funding and Finance Committee in connection with any use of PTA funds (whether specifically budgeted of not)
  • Works with Membership Chair and Communications Committee to staff and execute ES programs

 

 

Elem. School Programming

(Chairs VP; others)

  • ES-specific assemblies; curriculum support (Appt. ES Assemblies Rep to meet with Principal and DTCEF rep to plan and coordinate ES assemblies; work with MS Assemblies Rep to recommend cross-grade assemblies)
  • ES Parent Programming
  • Homeroom Liaisons
  • Other ES-specific program recommendations
  • Coordinates with Funding and Finance Committee in connection with any use of PTA funds (whether specifically budgeted of not)
  • Works with Membership Chair and Communications Committee to staff and execute ES programs
  • Assists MS Committee with evaluation and supervision of child care services

 

 

Events

(Chairs: VP/Pres; others)

  • Recommends school-wide events that are designed to integrate families into the school environment or expose families to important aspects of school community
  • Coordinate food and staffing for above (with help of Membership Chair/Communications Committee); arrange for pictures to be taken of events (parent photographer pool)
  • Family Fun Nights (e.g., a taste of DTS; trivia nights, movie/music/talent nights; teacher-parent-student athlete games night)
  • Committees falling under jurisdiction of Events Committee:
    • Reflections Program Reception and Display of Artwork
    • Elem. School Field Day
    • School-Wide BBQ
    • Teacher Appreciation Luncheons
    • Candidates’ Forum – Only when race contested; forum for debate/questions from audience (NO ENDORSEMENT OF ANY CANDIDATE OR POSITION)
    • All American Trivia Challenge – Fourth of July

  • Get-Out-the-Vote (e.g., voter regis forms; signage/reminders to vote during school budget elections – NO ENDORSEMENT OF ANY CANDIDATE OR POSITION)
