DELAWARE TOWNSHIP SCHOOL PTA – MEETING NOTICE AND NEWSLETTER
Weds., Feb. 6th, 3:30 p.m. Perf. Arts Rm.
All are invited to attend the upcoming DTS PTA general membership meeting. Thanks to a generous grant from the Susan and Chelsea Makara Foundation, complimentary child care can be arranged by contacting Ellen Fox at ellenfox@dtsk8.org at least two (2) school days prior to the meeting.
DTS PTA Mission: Foster an environment in which children are empowered to achieve personal excellence academically, socially and emotionally.
DTS PTA Goals: Provide parents and guardians meaningful opportunities to connect with the learning environment; collaborate strategically with school administration/faculty and other organizations; communicate and record activities openly and efficiently.
A summary of the proposed agenda follows:
CURRENT BUSINESS
1. Nominating Committee: Motion to approve Nom. Com. members J. Calhoun, S. Falk, E. DeWan, L. Ubry and J. Bailly, with K. Falk as alternate. Committee will consider potential candidates to serve for 2008-2010 term in following offices: treasurer; VPs (2) and secretary.
2. Kindergarten Registration – Weds., Feb. 20: Need volunteers to welcome new families in morning (9-11) and afternoon (12-2) sessions. Food served. Contact Karen Falk to volunteer.
3. Spring Book Fair – Feb. 25-29: Supporting the DTS Literacy Program. Contact Liza or Tim Davis to volunteer.
LONGER-TERM PROJECTS & PROGRAMS
1. K-5 Liberty Science Center Assembly – Tues., April 22: Yes, parents can visit DTS during this PTA-sponsored assembly! Note: time/date may change at discretion of School Administration.
2. Mothers’ Day/Spring Plant Sale – May 5-9: Delivery pick up and sales will take place behind stage in gym. Please note: no sales to students will take place during school hours – special before/after school hours will be offered for those wishing to have their children purchase plants. Contact Alice Laux to volunteer.
3. “A Taste for Technology” Cookbook and Tasting Event – Fall 2008: Got a favorite recipe? Want to help our children get the technology they need to succeed? Sure you do! So, help with this important event/fundraiser by contacting Mandy Salerno, Caryann Besser or Rich Mongelli.
RECENT EVENTS/ACCOLADES
1. DTS PTA Family Movie Night: Not only did we Meet the Robinsons; we met over 40 DTS families last Friday at PTA’s Family Movie Night! Thanks to Alice Laux for chairing this event and to all our volunteers who made bookmarks, flyers and posters; coordinated pizza and candy orders; and set up and cleaned up the cafeteria and Performing Arts Room. Special thanks to ShopRite of Hunterdon for donating the candy, paper goods and water and to Nicola’s Pizza in Lambertville for discounting and delivering the pizzas.
2. DTS PTA-Sponsored CameoCast Assembly: Thanks to Karen Zimm, Peg Hanna, Tom Bruhl and the rest of the PTA Elementary School Committee for bringing this great program to DTS K-5 students this past Thursday (and inviting all DTS families to participate).
